Race Report PCRA Round 3 Sydney Motorsport Park
North Circuit. on 31st.
May 2014
Round 3 of the PCRA BRA Championship raced on the
very quick North Circuit
at Eastern Creek on a cool dry Autumn day.
The racing was
exciting with loads of slipstreaming on the long straights,
making for exciting dashes to the finish line.
Motolites
Anthony Marsden (#86 Honda RS85 Bento Racing)
qualified for pole in Race 1 from Tyler Bradford
(#77 Honda 150) and Shane Wilcox (#68 Honda RS85) by
less than 0.5s.
Race 1
Anthony Marsden fluffed his
start allowing Shane Wilcox and Ken Lawrence(#14
Honda RS150) to lead at the end of lap 1. On lap 3
it was Tyler Bradford ahead of Shane Wilcox and then
Anthony Marsden. Later that lap Anthony retired with
mechanical problems. On lap 4 Shane Wilcox was back
in the lead until Tyler Bradford overtook him into
the high speed turn 1 on lap 5. On the same lap
Shane Wilcox took advantage of lapped traffic in the
chicane on the back straight to get ahead of Tyler
Bradford who then on the last lap slipstreamed past
him to snatch first place. Shane Wilcox 2nd and Ken
Lawrence in 3rd 0.07sec ahead of Jack McGauley( #28
Honda RS85).
Race 2
Tyler Bradford had a blinder of a start with Shane
Wilcox in close pursuit. On lap 2 Shane Wilcox was
leading by a whisker into turn 1 but Tyler Bradford
took first place from him by just 0.051 sec even
though Shane Wilcox posted the fasted lap. Jack
McGauley taking 3rd after Ken Lawrence retired with
mechanical problems.
Race 3
Shane Wilcox led on the first lap in Race 3 before
Tyler Bradford took control for the remainder of the
race with Jack McGauley, a distant 18 secs behind,
finishing 3rd. Next up was Jeff Brown on the BBE
Yamaha YFZR150 looking very racy. Jack McGauleys Dad
Marty finished next (5th.) to tie on points in the
Motolite championship.
At the halfway stage of the Bucket championships
Tyler Bradford is looking strong for the Motolite
crown.
