The battle for the lead in the 3rd Motolite Sprint Race was a straight out fight between Paul Borg and Garry Briggs as they left the rest of the field in their wake. Paul got the start but Garry went by on turn 9 onto the back straight but by lap 3 Paul was back in the lead and in a final push on the last lap Garry missed out by .0310secs how close was that? The flying #97 Tyler Bradford passed #14 Ken on the last lap to take 3rd and #74 Ron Carrick finished 5th ahead of Michael Carruthers(6th) who was followed across the line by #68 Shane Wilcox.

Although there was a depleted field for the final Motolite bucket race of the year the battle at the front was no less intense. #16 Michael Carruthers got the holeshot and led #93 Paul Borg, #97 Tyler Bradford, #74 Ron Carrick and #42 Andrew De Jersey. By lap 3 #97 Tyler moved past #93 Paul Borg but on Lap 4 Ron Carrick had passed Paul and Tyler into 2nd place. The jostling for position went down to the wire with Paul pinching 1st from Michael and Tyler taking 3rd place from Ron.

The first Superlite race produced some superb racing. The battle for the lead was between 3 riders #15 Jeff Clissold (Honda 155) Mark Strong on the #2 Ken Lindsay bike and David Phillips riding the # 25 Fred Holland machine. On Lap 2 Jeff passed David and Mark into the lead breaking the Superlite lap record on the way but it was to no avail as by lap 4 Mark was back in the lead where he stayed. Jeff came in second .1530sec. behind and David who was having his once a year race appearance and showing terrific speed was a another .1480sec. behind. No.69 Ian Gregory came home 4th followed by #43 Dan May
The new Superlite Lap Record by Jeff Clissold is 1:20.5350
There was good midfield battles down through the field with the 2 Commuterlites acquitting themselves well with #74 Alex Picket finishing 6th and #59 Garry Briggs finishing 7th showing that they will produce excellent close racing in true bucket racing style.

#Race 2 was a flag to flag win for David Phillips but it was by no means a walk in the park as Jeff Clissold threw all he had at wresting the lead from him but had to be satisfied with 2nd just .076 sec. behind.
#69 Ian Gregory was next followed by #43 Dan May and then #74 Ron Carrick on the Commuterlite. The top 10 was rounded out with 6th #65 Tim Smith, 7th Walter Murphy, 8th Adam Muldoon, 9th Bob Murphy and 10th Jeffrey White.

Race 3 was the last chance to sort the bikes for the one hour. It started well for #15 Jeff Clissold as he got the holeshot and putting down 2 quick laps looked to be consolidating his lead. Meanwhile Race 2 winner David Phillips had a shocker of a first lap down in 10th place, #2 Mark Strong passed Dan May for 2nd and on lap 3 went into the lead as Jeff Clissold retired with a badly smoking engine. This moved everyone up one position. At the finish race leader Mark Strong won by the biggest margin so far 2.054 over #43 Dan May. #69 Ian Gregory was 3rd and #25 David Phillips just pipped #38 Walter Murphy to salvage 4th place after his disastrous start.

First time around it was the #25 Honda of David Phillips with #81 Lyle Bennett in the repaired H100 snapping at his heels, Ian Gregory was next followed by Dan May and the flying Alex Pickett pushing the #74 Commuterlite in amongst the Superlites. By lap 2 #81 Lyle was in the lead and showing what might have been in the 1 hour had they not struck trouble, he proceeded to pull away to win by 4 sec. Next came #25 David Philips.
3rd place went to Jeff Clissold who had recovered well after a poor start.
The last Superlite race of the year and what a year it was.
Looking forward to a new season and hopefully more of the same.
